Race 5 – Magnetic Loop

After a successful race launch in 2016, Around Magnetic Loop is back better than ever!

The 5 stage race will be in 2 groups, intermediate and beginners. The idea of this is to allow fast transitions after each stage and to implement the best water safety methods possible to all competitors. In order to race in the Around Magnetic Island Loop, competitors must prove themselves at a long course prior or mention other courses you have done in the past.

Long Course

Course Description:

Stage 1- 3.5km NELLY BAY to ALMA BAY

Stage 2- 9.78 km ALMA BAY to HORSESHOE BAY

Stage 3-10.9km HORSESHOE BAY to WEST POINT

Stage 4- 9.26km WEST POINT to PICNIC BAY

Stage 5- 4.46km PICNIC BAY to NELLY BAY

Length: 37.9km (or up to 2km less if you take a narrow line against island)
Briefing: 8:10am
Race Start Time: 08:30am
Start Location: Nelly Bay Marina, 4819 
Finish Location: Nelly bay Marina, 4819 (paddling past the peppers deck)

Short Course

Course Description:

Short course will do one stage of the race approx 10km – Horseshoe Bay to West Point

Length: approx 10km over 2 stages ( or 1 really good 10 km stage if wind is best/ safest)
Briefing: 08:10am
Race Start Time: Approx 9:30am or when the long course reach horseshoe bay / west pt leg if wind best permits
Start Location: Horseshoe Bay
Finish Location: West Point

Prices:

Long Course: $89
Tag Team of 2 individuals: $150 ($75 each)
Team of 2 in a double boat doing the whole trip: $120 ($60 each)

Tag Team of 2 in double boat: $200 ($50 each)
Team of 6 in 1 boat: $150 (Must Paddle to island prior to event and leave boats at Nelly Bay).
