Magnetic Loop is back better than ever! (this year a reversed direction to suit tides/ water levels on reef)

The 5 stage race will be in 2 groups, intermediate and beginners. The idea of this is to allow fast transitions after each stage and to implement the best water safety methods possible to all competitors. In order to race in the Around Magnetic Island Loop, competitors must prove themselves at a long course prior or mention other courses/ paddles you have done in the past.

LOGISTICS

Transport for teams is provided to swap over locations. This transport must be booked prior to the race to ensure adequate transport is available.

Transport is provided for short course competitors and their craft to the start line from Nelly Bay and from the finish back to Nelly Bay. This transport must be booked prior to the race.

Want a few creature comforts at each stage – We will transport 1 bag per competitor to each stage finish so you can have all the comforts you need while you’re there. Make sure your bag is clearly labeled with your name so we can make sure it makes it in the correct location when you want it!

We also provide massage, food, drink, groovy music at each staging area. It might be a ‘race’ but really everyone just wants to have a great day!!!!

Stage 1- 4.46km NELLY BAY to PICNIC BAY 

Stage 2- 9.26km PICNIC BAY to WEST POINT

Stage 3-10.9km WEST POINT to HORSESHOE BAY

Stage 4- 9.78 km HORSESHOE BAY to ALMA BAY

Stage 1- 3.5km ALMA BAY to NELLY BAY

Short Course

Course Description:

Short course will do one stage of the race approx 10km – Horseshoe Bay to West Point

Long Course: $89
Tag Team of 2 individuals: $150 ($75 each)
Team of 2 in a double boat doing the whole trip: $120 ($60 each)

Tag Team of 2 in double boat: $200 ($50 each)
Team of 6 in 1 boat: $180 (Must Paddle to island prior to event and leave boats at Nelly Bay).
